Rebranding, Website Redesign, Custom Wordpress Template Codeout

For my capstone course we worked with a client who needed a full rebranding, campaign strategy, and Wordpress website with a fully custom theme. This project spanned the course of the semester.

01. Branding + Logo

613LAB is a Jewish faith based business accelerator. The client wanted to be sure the jewish faith was represented in the logo, while also having a modern, clean logo that uses bright colors. After much research, we chose the colors pomegranate and indigo to be the primary colors in the logo and branding material for their importance in, and representation of, the Jewish faith.

02. Wireframes and Template Mockups

The client expressed that he did not want the website to look cluttered, and wanted to keep it simple. His current website was a single scroll site, which he expressed he was not tied to but liked the simplicity of it. I created some wireframes which showed a simple layout with a focus on maintaining simplicity and highlighting the new branding styles. For the templates I used mostly color and bold fonts for visual cues to lead the user through the site.

03. Website Codeout

Using a mobile-first approach, this site was built in Wordpress as a custom theme. I used bootstrap for the framework, and all other HTML, CSS, and JavaScript was coded by me from scratch. The homepage has, what our group considered to be, the most important information that users were looking for when they visited a site. This was determined by analyzing the client’s current google analytics from his live site, as well as doing research on his competitors and a market analysis. Knowing the importance of SEO, we decided to create a few interior pages containing additional information which would help boost SEO rank.
